Arts of the Unknown
Is a London born Bristol based music producer and DJ. His bouncy upbeat garage and soulful blends are what makes his sets so unique to listen to. We sat down with him to ask him a few questions.
1. When did you start doing it for yourself and your own personal expression?
I think all art is done for yourself and your own expression at the start. But sometimes when people see a commercial value in their product, thats when the reasoning behind it can start to turn. For me it's always been for myself and just getting ideas down.
2. Has your past experience influenced your work?
Definitely. I think your past experiences allow you to learn what what you like and don't like. I have also found that previously experiencing different music cultures live have allowed me to gasp ideas around the music scene for me and also what parts of these different cultures I can learn from.
3. Who are your biggest influences/inspirations and how did they affect your practice?I think some of my biggest influences have been collated from a variety of artists in different genres. MPH had brought me the bounce and power of garage.Fred again taught me that it's ok to explore different genres under your one alias.Thomas Newman is a composer mainly for movies but he allowed me to open up my more emotional side to music. This emotional influence is something that currently sits behind closed doors, but i'm keen to see how a release would go down.k4. What is one thing you would like to say about the meaning behind what you do ?The only way I could describe the meaning behind what I do is to think about how I personally feel when listening to the music I love. I want my work to create this feeling for others.kHead over to our Soundcloud page to listen to ep.1 of Artist watch guest mix. Listen out for some fresh dubs along the journey of this mix!!
